Jesus Christ is the Lord, God of Israel

Jesus Christ is the Lord, our God:
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are ONE!

We can prove this through prayer and digging further into the Bible.

Let’s look at how the description of Lord Jesus Christ being God's Word in the first chapter of the Gospel according to John matches what the Holy Spirit of Wisdom says in the Proverbs:

John 1:1-18
Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through Him, and nothing was made without Him. In Him there was life, and that life was a light for the people of the world. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not defeated it. There was a man named John, who was sent by God. He came to tell people about the light. Through him all people could hear about the light and believe. John was not the light. But he came to tell people about the light. The True Light was coming into the world. This is the True Light that gives light to all people. The Word was already in the world. The world was made through Him, but the world did not know Him. He came to the world that was His own. And His own people did not accept Him. But some people did accept Him. They believed in Him, and He gave them the right to become children of God. They became God’s children, but not in the way babies are usually born. It was not because of any human desire or plan. They were born from God Himself. The Word became a man and lived among us. We saw His divine greatness—the greatness that belongs to the only Son of the Father. The Word was full of grace and truth. John told people about Him. He said loudly, “This is the One I was talking about when I said, ‘The One who is coming after me is greater than I am, because He was living before I was even born.’” Yes, the Word was full of grace and truth, and from Him we all received one blessing after another. That is, the law was given to us through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The only Son is the One who has shown us what God is like. He is Himself God and is very close to the Father.

(Well, that’s enough proof for me right there...but let's check out the rest of this evidence)..

Proverbs 8:22-36
The Lord made Me in the beginning, long before He did anything else. I was formed a long time ago, before the world was made. I was born before there was an ocean, before the springs began to flow. I was born before the mountains and hills were set into place, before the earth and fields were made, before the dust of this world was formed. I was there when He set up the skies, when He drew a circle in the ocean to make a place for the land. I was there when He put the clouds in the sky and made the deep springs flow. I was there when He set the limits on the sea to make it stop where He said. I was there when He laid the foundations of the earth. I grew up as a Child by His side, laughing and playing all the time. I played in the world He made and enjoyed the people He put there. “Now, children, listen to Me. If you follow My ways, you will be happy too. Listen to My teaching and be wise; don’t ignore what I say. Whoever waits at My door and listens for Me will be blessed. Those who find Me find life, and the Lord will reward them. But those who do not find Me put their lives in danger. Whoever hates Me loves death.”

Ok, now prayerfully let's consider how much it sounds like the SAME One being described in John Chapter 1 (the Word / the Son) is the One that is speaking in Proverbs 8 (The Holy Spirit).

Then, let's take it two steps further:

In Genesis 1, God refers to Himself as "We" and "Our." This would be accurate seeing as how God IS, in fact, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and all Three are present at all times. Furthermore, Jesus does the same when He speaks to Nicodemus in John 3. He refers to Himself as "We" and "Our" because the Spirit and the Father are present with Him always.
See below:

Genesis 1:26 NKJV
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

John 3:11 NKJV
Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.

So, Jesus (the Son of God) is the Messiah and He is the Word of God, which is God. God's name is Lord and He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Helper Spirit of Peace Wisdom and Understanding. We as true Christians believe in One God, the Only Living God- the God of Jacob.

Here are some more verses from the Scriptures to pray on for more understanding:

John 8:58 NKJV↓
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

John 12:44-45 NKJV
Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.

John 14:7-11 NKJV↓
If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves."

Matthew 11:27 ERV↓
“My Father has given Me everything. No one knows the Son—only the Father knows the Son. And no one knows the Father—only the Son knows the Father. And the only people who will know about the Father are those the Son chooses to tell."

Deuteronomy 18:18-19 ERV↓
"I will send them a Prophet like you. This Prophet will be one of their own people. I will tell Him what He must say, and He will tell the people everything I command. This prophet will speak for Me, and I will punish anyone who refuses to listen to My commands."

John 10:30 NKJV↓
“I and My Father are One.”

Micah 5:2 NKJV↓
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting."

Luke 4:18-19 NKJV↓
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Isaiah 61:1-3 NKJV↓
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord , And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord , that He may be glorified.”

Psalm 110:1 AMP↓
THE Lord (God) says to my Lord (the Messiah), Sit at My right hand, until I make Your adversaries Your footstool.

Thanks be to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Everlasting, the Alpha and the Omega. With faith in the Lord, all things are possible. Praise be to the God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob. He is the One and Only true God. Peace be with all of God's people, and may His will be done!

For Fellow Believers

A message about starting arguments, reaching agreement, and unification throughout all of God’s church!

I pray for agreement among all God's people. When all of God’s people come together, that is when the world will see that Christ is Lord. For it is written:

Father, I pray that all who believe in Me can be one. You are in Me and I am in You. I pray that they can also be one in Us. Then the world will believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory that You gave Me. I gave them this glory so that they can be one, just as You and I are one. I will be in them, and You will be in Me. So they will be completely one. Then the world will know that You sent Me and that You loved them just as You loved Me.
John 17:21-23 ERV

My family in Christ, we should not be arguing, especially not over the meanings of certain words or using perfect language (2 Timothy 2:14-16). We should pray for the patience and understanding that Christ had (1 Peter 3:8). In this way, we can agree with each other, as Lord Jesus wants (Romans 15:5). We shouldn't let different ideas split us into different groups, denominations, or followings (Romans 16:17-18, I Corinthians 1:10-11). Those ideas are carnal [earthly] and come from selfish desires (1 Corinthians 3:3)! What faithful Christians do is turn their hearts to the Lord, and sacrifice for others (John 15:13, Matthew 3:8). Not only sacrificing one's own life if necessary, but also sacrificing time, money, and "getting-things-your-way."

When read prayerfully and faithfully, the Bible is a very effective tool God uses to communicate with His people. This can be very helpful when two or more members of the church are confused about His Teaching or His Will for us.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
II Timothy 3:16 NKJV

It is clear that although we know the Holy Bible is the Truth, some people will still not use Scripture in church discussion or Bible study sessions, only showing that their point is based on their own research and understanding. But Lord says:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
Proverbs 3:5 NKJV

True believers in Christ do not learn only from words on a page, we learn from the power of the Holy Spirit:

For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.
I Thessalonians 1:5 NKJV

Many people will cause arguments and debates by twisting the words in the Bible and teaching false things (1 Timothy 6:3-5). For example, Peter points out that some people twist Paul's letters to say that the gift of grace through faith in Jesus allows believers to sin freely and willingly then still receive God's kingdom, which is not what his letters say (2 Peter 3:9-18). God will judge these false people on the Day that He judges everyone (Jude 1:4, 2 Peter 2:3, Ecclesiastes 12:14). The Truth that we know is that those with faith in Jesus are made children of God, and the Holy Spirit in them gives love, peace, strength, patience, and self-control to kill their old sinful selves on the cross –starting a new life through Jesus Christ (1 John 2:1-7, 1 John 3:1-10, 1 Peter 1:13-23, 2 Peter 1:5-8, Romans 5:12-21, Matthew 5:16).

The One who knows what is on every person's heart knows our true intentions and deepest thoughts (Psalms 139:2, Proverbs 15:3 & 11, Luke 16:15). The Lord knows who this is written about:

Some people will teach what is false and will not agree with the true teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ. They will not accept the teaching that produces a life of devotion to God. They are proud of what they know, but they understand nothing. They are sick with a love for arguing and fighting about words. And that brings jealousy, quarrels, insults, and evil mistrust. They are always making trouble, because they are people whose thinking has been confused. They have lost their understanding of the Truth. They think that devotion to God is a way to get rich.
1 Timothy 6:3-5 ERV

Paul, guided by the Holy Spirit, writes this to God’s people:

The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: committing sexual sin, being morally bad, doing all kinds of shameful things, worshiping false gods, taking part in witchcraft, hating people, causing trouble, being jealous, angry or selfish, causing people to argue and divide into separate groups, being filled with envy, getting drunk, having wild parties, and doing other things like this. I warn you now as I warned you before: The people who do these things will not have a part in God’s kingdom. But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these kinds of things. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their sinful self. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do. We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit. We must not feel proud and boast about ourselves. We must not cause trouble for each other or be jealous of each other.
Galatians 5:19-26 ERV

We should not be arguing online with each other or disputing each other, because this damages the faith of people who participate in the arguments, as well as the faith of people looking on or listening in! Remember that it says in God’s Word:

Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.
II Timothy 2:14-16 NKJV

Also, isn't it true that if the Lord wishes to rebuke or correct one of His children, He will do so Himself in His own mysterious ways? We need not be so proud as to correct each other and think that our one message is better than our brother’s or sister’s. After all, we should all carry the same message of Truth, which is the Good News Gospel of Jesus Christ!

For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
Proverbs 3:12 NKJV

The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.
Psalms 25:9 NKJV

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
Revelation 3:19 NKJV

When God does prove one of His people to be wrong [and He will expose everything], we should accept His punishment and not be stubborn or refuse correction. As it is written:

He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
Proverbs 29:1 NKJV

My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord , Nor detest His correction
Proverbs 3:11 NKJV

Please join me in reading and praying on these related readings from the Holy Bible:

The Lord is not being slow in doing what He promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost. He wants everyone to change their ways and stop sinning. But the day when the Lord comes again will surprise everyone like the coming of a thief. The sky will disappear with a loud noise. Everything in the sky will be destroyed with fire. And the earth and everything in it will be burned up. Everything will be destroyed in this way. So what kind of people should you be? Your lives should be holy and devoted to God. You should be looking forward to the day of God, wanting more than anything else for it to come soon. When it comes, the sky will be destroyed with fire, and everything in the sky will melt with heat. But God made a promise to us. And we are waiting for what He promised—a new sky and a new earth. That will be the place where goodness lives. Dear friends, we are waiting for this to happen. So try as hard as you can to be without sin and without fault. Try to be at peace with God. Remember that we are saved because our Lord is patient. Our dear brother Paul told you that same thing when he wrote to you with the wisdom that God gave him. That’s what he says in all his letters when he writes about these things. There are parts of his letters that are hard to understand, and some people give a wrong meaning to them. These people are ignorant and weak in faith. They also give wrong meanings to the other Scriptures. But they are destroying themselves by doing that. Dear friends, you already know about this. So be careful. Don’t let these evil people lead you away by the wrong they do. Be careful that you do not fall from your strong faith. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Glory be to Him, now and forever! Amen.
2 Peter 3:9-18 ERV

Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.
I Corinthians 1:10-11 NKJV

So all of you should live together in peace. Try to understand each other. Love each other like brothers and sisters. Be kind and humble.
1 Peter 3:8 ERV

You are still not following the Spirit. You are jealous of each other, and you are always arguing with each other. This shows that you are still following your own selfish desires. You are acting like ordinary people of the world.
1 Corinthians 3:3 ERV

These people are like dirty spots among you—they bring shame to you in the special meals you share together. They eat with you and have no fear. They take care of only themselves. They are like clouds without rain. The wind blows them around. They are like trees that have no fruit at harvest time and are pulled out of the ground. So they are twice dead. Like the dirty foam on the wild waves in the sea, everyone can see the shameful things they do. They are like stars that wander in the sky. A place in the blackest darkness has been kept for them forever. Enoch, the seventh descendant from Adam, said this about these people: “Look, the Lord is coming with thousands and thousands of his holy angels to judge everyone. He will punish all those who are against him for all the evil they have done in their lack of respect for him. Yes, the Lord will punish all these sinners who don’t honor him. He will punish them for all the evil things they have said against him.”   These people always complain and find wrong in others. They always do the evil things they want to do. They boast about themselves. The only reason they say good things about others is to get what they want. Dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ said would happen. They told you, “In the last times there will be people who laugh at God and do only what they want to do—things that are against God.” These are the people who divide you. They are not spiritual, because they don’t have the Spirit.
Jude 1:12-19 ERV

In the past there were false prophets among God’s people. It is the same now. You will have some false teachers in your group. They will teach things that are wrong—ideas that will cause people to be lost. And they will teach in a way that will be hard for you to see that they are wrong. They will even refuse to follow the Master who bought their freedom. And so they will quickly destroy themselves. Many people will follow them in the morally wrong things they do. And because of them, others will say bad things about the way of truth we follow. These false teachers only want your money. So they will use you by telling you things that are not true. But the judgment against these false teachers has been ready for a long time. And they will not escape God who will destroy them.
2 Peter 2:1-3 ERV

We don’t enjoy discipline when we get it. It is painful. But later, after we have learned our lesson from it, we will enjoy the peace that comes from doing what is right.   You have become weak, so make yourselves strong again. Live in the right way so that you will be saved and your weakness will not cause you to be lost.   Try to live in peace with everyone. And try to keep your lives free from sin. Anyone whose life is not holy will never see the Lord. Be careful that no one fails to get God’s grace. Be careful that no one loses their faith and becomes like a bitter weed growing among you. Someone like that can ruin your whole group.
Hebrews 12:11-15 ERV

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
John 15:13 NKJV

Be Like Christ

What it means to truly be a Christian

Christian = doesn't sin intentionally

Sure, we all stumble, and that's what grace is about (1 John 2:1), but that's not an excuse to do wrong or please the selfish earthly desires (1 Peter 4:1-2, Galatians 5:13, Romans 6:1-7). If someone is using grace as an excuse to do wrong, that person never truly knew Christ (1 John 3:6, Mark 8:34-38). God knows if a sin or wrongdoing was REALLY committed unwillingly or unknowingly (Hebrews 4:13, Proverbs 20:27, Proverbs 24:12, Proverbs 15:3, Ecclesiastes 12:14, Psalms 7:9).

Think about it like this:

God knows what is on our hearts (Psalms 139:2). He knows what our actual intentions truly are, and we can't fool Him about if something was an accident and if we are truly sorry (Luke 3:8, Revelation 2:1-29). It doesn't matter if someone can trick and deceive every person on earth, God is the One who knows (Proverbs 22:12, Psalms 25:3)!

The gift of grace and mercy from God is what saves us, and this comes from faith in Jesus, yes (John 3:3-16, Ephesians 3:12, 2 Peter 2:20). However we need this grace and mercy continually no matter what we have done, not only because of our personal past transgressions, but also for the Adam and Eve original sin (Romans 5:12-21). That's the point of faith in Jesus- so we can live the lives God wants us to and escape that life of sin, destruction, and ultimate death (Psalm 68:20, Romans 8:6, Philippians 3:17-19). Once we have new life through the Spirit we will use it to spread love and bring glory to the Lord, not to continue in our old sinful ways (Matthew 5:16, 1 Peter 2:1-12)!

God forgives us? Yes, God forgives sinners of their past sin, and Christians of their honest mistakes, but not evil liars who give only part of themselves to God and the rest of their lives to sin or to those who never want to repent (Matthew 7:21-27, Psalms 7:12, 1 John 2:6-29). God doesn't promise forgiveness to people who only care about looking righteous to other people and seeking praise from people here on earth (Luke 16:15, Matthew 6:16-18, Galatians 1:10). Repentance isn't just asking for forgiveness, it is showing God the desire for forgiveness by changing our hearts and lives (James 2:14-26, Matthew 3:8, Acts 22:16). We must love each other and treat others the way we wish to be treated. Don't let anyone fool about that, this is the Teaching you have had since the beginning (Mark 16:16, Matthew 7:12, 1 John 2:7).

That's what the Bible says about grace and salvation through faith in Christ and keeping God's commands. This is possible through prayer, living by the Word of God, and faith in the Lord's Son Jesus Christ.

Matthew 3:8 NKJV↓
“Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance,”
Mark 16:16 NKJV↓
“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
Acts 22:16 NKJV↓
And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Romans 5:12-21 NKJV↓
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. And the gift is not like that  which  came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which  came from one offense  resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which  came from many offenses resulted in justification. For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment  came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the  free  gift  came  to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Galatians 5:13-26 NKJV↓
For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who  are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
1 John 2:1-7 ERV↓
My dear children, I write this letter to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone sins, we have Jesus Christ to help us. He always did what was right, so He is able to defend us before God the Father. Jesus is the way our sins are taken away. And He is the way all people can have their sins taken away too.   If we obey what God has told us to do, then we are sure that we know Him. If we say we know God but do not obey His commands, we are lying. The truth is not in us. But when we obey God’s teaching, His love is truly working in us. This is how we know that we are living in Him. If we say we live in God, we must live the way Jesus lived.   My dear friends, I am not writing a new command to you. It is the same command you have had since the beginning. This command is the Teaching you have already heard.
1 John 3:1-10 ERV↓
The Father has loved us so much! This shows how much He loved us: We are called children of God. And we really are His children. But the people in the world don’t understand that we are God’s children, because they have not known Him. Dear friends, now we are children of God. We have not yet been shown what we will be in the future. But we know that when Christ comes again, we will be like Him. We will see Him just as He is. He is pure, and everyone who has this hope in Him keeps themselves pure like Christ.   Anyone who sins breaks God’s law. Yes, sinning is the same as living against God’s law. You know that Christ came to take away people’s sins. There is no sin in Christ. So whoever lives in Christ does not continue to sin. If they continue to sin, they have never really understood Christ and have never known Him. Dear children, don’t let anyone lead you into the wrong way. Christ always did what was right. So to be good like Christ, you must do what is right. The devil has been sinning since the beginning. Anyone who continues to sin belongs to the devil. The Son of God came for this: to destroy the devil’s work. Those who are God’s children do not continue to sin, because the new life God gave them stays in them. They cannot keep sinning, because they have become children of God. So we can see who God’s children are and who the devil’s children are. These are the ones who are not God’s children: those who don’t do what is right and those who do not love their brothers and sisters in God’s family.
Matthew 28:20 NLT↓
"Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 7:21-27 NKJV↓
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’  And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:  and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:  and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

1 Peter 1:13-23 ERV↓
So prepare your minds for service. With complete self-control put all your hope in the grace that will be yours when Jesus Christ comes. In the past you did not have the understanding you have now, so you did the evil things you wanted to do. But now you are children of God, so you should obey Him and not live the way you did before. Be holy in everything you do, just as God is holy. He is the One who chose you. In the Scriptures God says, “Be holy, because I am holy.”  You pray to God and call Him Father, but He will judge everyone the same way—by what they do. So while you are visiting here on earth, you should live with respect for God. You know that in the past the way you were living was useless. It was a way of life you learned from those who lived before you. But you were saved from that way of living. You were bought, but not with things that ruin like gold or silver. You were bought with the precious blood of Christ’s death. He was a pure and perfect sacrificial Lamb. Christ was chosen before the world was made, but He was shown to the world in these last times for you. You believe in God through Christ. God is the one who raised Him from death and gave honor to Him. So your faith and your hope are in God. You have made yourselves pure by obeying the Truth. Now you can have true love for your brothers and sisters. So love each other deeply—with all your heart. You have been born again. This new life did not come from something that dies. It came from Something that cannot die. You were born again through God’s life-giving Message that lasts forever.
